Tdh:

Terre des hommes (Tdh) is the leading Swiss organisation for children’s aid. Active in more than 45 countries, Tdh works with local and international partners to develop and implement field projects which improve the daily lives of over 3 million children and their relatives, in the domains of health, protection and emergency relief. This engagement is financed by individual and institutional support, with administrative costs kept to a minimum.

Tdh is working in Bangladesh since 1976, with operations in the north of the country (Kurigram district), in Dhaka and in Cox’s Bazar Districts.

Tdh is implementing programs on Health, WASH, Access to Justice (social cohesion and conflict resolution), Migration and Child protection, both in development and emergency contexts.

Following the massive displacement of more than 688,000 people into Bangladesh since end of August 2017, Tdh has put in place an important emergency response plan to provide relief to the Rohingya refugees, notably on health, WASH and protection.

Tdh in Bangladesh is starting a process of integration of emergency and development approaches.

Context:

The main purpose of the position is to support efficient administrative and finance management of the projects and Tdh structure in Bangladesh, minimizing financial and operational risks and ensuring compliance in terms of Tdh procedures and donors’ guidelines.

S/he contributes to the efficient administrative and financial management of the operations in Bangladesh (general accounting, administrative and budget management) under the supervision of the Administrative and Finance Coordinator and in close collaboration with the other Coordinators and the Country Representative. S/he is the direct interface between Bangladesh delegation and the headquarters and/or field sponsors with regards to financial reporting and audit compliance to donors and local authorities.

S/he can make independent decisions and act in her/his field of activity.

S/he supports and validates the quality of the work done by the teams with regards to Tdh mandate, commitments and international standards.

Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Admin and Finance Coordinator:

Finance Management

Drawing, timely submission of budgets, in line with donor requirements.

Financial reporting to multiple stakeholders

Collaboration with Tdh local partners, budget holders

Financial monitoring of the delegation’s activities

Accounting

Validation of the delegation’s accountancy

Support to Partners on accounting issues

Administration

Local law analysis, verification of contracts, Local Taxes declaration

Team management

Focal point for administrative and finance management of the delegation when the admin and finance coordinator is out from the office

Definition of needs, recruitment, training, support of the administration and finance team, as well as their planning and management of activities

Reporting/communication

Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including local

Take part in meetings relating to administrative aspects and represent Terre des hommes on request

Profile:

  • Education: University degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration
  • At least 3 years’ experience as Administration & Finance Coordinator in the field and in a similar context.
  • Ability to work independently as well as a strong team player

  • Previous experience in humanitarian sector is mandatory
  • Previous experience in Bangladesh will be highly appreciated
  • Language: Excellent oral and writing skills in English
  • Advanced knowledge in Excel and of SAGA software
