Job Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and evaluate the operation of marine vessels, ship machinery, and related equipment, such as power supply and propulsion systems
  • Support the US Coast Guard reviewing third party design modifications and improvements to mechanical systems and components. Perform design reviews, evaluate constructability, help resolve technical issues, and manage information generated through the design and construction phases of multiple and concurrent projects
  • Conduct naval architecture analysis as they relate to vessels
  • Conduct stability analyses of ships
  • Design complete hull and superstructure according to specifications and test data, in conformity with standards of safety, efficiency, and economy
  • Study design proposals and specifications to establish basic characteristics of craft, such as size, weight, speed, propulsion, displacement, and draft
  • Oversee construction and testing of prototype in model basin and develop sectional and waterline curves of hull to establish center of gravity, ideal hull form, and buoyancy and stability data
  • Guide New Product commercialisation through ‘start-up’ stage ensuring sales processes efficient, repeatable and scalable
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs
  • Position requires the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship
  • Investigate complex and diverse design problems presented in inspection deficiency reports submitted by production contractors, and Ship’s Force work requests
  • Evaluation of structural inspection reports, based on the SIM program for each respective vessel
  • Create technically robust and commercially efficient dry docking specifications in close co-operation with the vessel managers
  • Responsible for supporting all ad hoc or emergent structural repairs, making repair proposals and seeking approval for the same with relevant classification societies
  • Evaluate performance of craft during dock and sea trials to determine design changes and conformance with national and international standards
  • Familiar with commercial ships and offshore floating facilities
  • Ideally experienced NAPA user
  • Broad experience in all project phases
  • Shipyard and Class experience
  • To identify and communicate client requirements to the software development team to maximize sales opportunities
  • To identify new opportunities and changes in the standard product and service delivery requirements and communicate these to the delivery team
  • To promote and communicate SEASAFE products and services to clients directly, and arrange appropriate visits, presentations and local seminars as required. This includes proposal preparation and presentation
  • To maintain the competitiveness of our pricing strategy and robustness of our software licence and maintenance’ Terms and Conditions. Advising where changes are necessary to maintain our competitive edge and to maximise margin
