- Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO) started its journey in 1988 with a noble vision to stand in solidarity with the poor and marginalized. Near about three decades of relentless efforts to make this happen, ESDO has embraced new grounds and opened up new horizons to help the disadvantaged and vulnerable people to bring meaningful and lasting changes in their lives. During this long span, ESDO has adapted with the changing situation and provided the most time-bound services especially for the poor and disadvantaged. A community focused and people centered approach has been adapted by ESDO while consideration was given to the national policy and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as its guiding principle. ESDO is one of the most dynamic organizations expanding its development interventions across 283 upazilas under 49 districts of Bangladesh covering over 10 million poor and vulnerable people.
- ESDO is implementing a project on Local Nutrition Governance and looking for Monitoring & Evaluation Officer for this potential project. Under this Local Nutrition Governance project, ESDO will work with the Government of Bangladesh (GoB) at the national, regional and local levels, to support the effective implementation of the National Plan of Action for Nutrition (NPAN)-2. This will work at multiple levels of local government institutions, specifically with the Nutrition Committees at the district, upazilla and union levels focusing on strengthening local nutrition-governance mechanisms, and scaling-up multi-sectoral nutrition-sensitive programming. The project will facilitate developing solutions emerging from communities, government line departments, and from the private sector. This project will replicate proven best practices and take to scale innovative local governance models for better nutrition. The project intends to impact on several of the core challenges faced by two districts (Nilphamari&Rangpur) in North-West region of Bangladesh.
- JANO project will build the capacity of Union Development Coordination Committees, Upazila Nutrition Coordination Committees, and District Nutrition Coordination Committees, enabling better implementation of nutrition action plans, where duty bearers are held accountable to citizens for commitments and services. The project will focus on empowering Community Support Groups, build capacities of UDCCs, UNCCs and DNCCs to be responsive to the needs of communities, and develop multi-sectoral nutrition action plans.
- The project is intended to develop effective multi-sectional approaches to nutrition and therefore will need to establish an innovative and strong M&E systems and to replicate /multiply proven approaches and practices and scaling up of innovative local governance models to achieve nutritional outcomes in Bangladesh. M&E Officer will be responsible to roll out of M&E and eventually establishing an effective M&E strategy and systems within the project. He will be based at Nilphamari district, with approximately 50% field travel.
Job Responsibilities
- Participate in and contribute to other activities for a better coordination and enhanced impacts of the activities (joint events, training, workshops, etc).
- Coordinate with project staff to ensure that lessons learned are properly documented and are incorporated into project implementation and design.
- Implementation of the M&E plan
- Work with the comprehensive MIS for progress tracking over key project level indicators.
- Ensure and proactive in data collection for data quality assessment in regular basis.
- Monitor the performance of the project across project delivery.
- Capture and disseminate lessons learned and follow up on action planning, maintain a lessons learned database.
- Data quality assessments/data audit to ensure better data collection and use of quality data to feed into project development and decision making process.
- Carryout the M&E events like as baseline, evaluation and others studies of the project.
- Ensure effective support to field level staffs in all aspects of monitoring & evaluation at the field level.
- Field activity monitoring and ensure corrective measures
- Orient and create common understanding among all staff on project M&E system and operation procedure.
- Orient the staff members on project log frame specially the impacts, indicator and outcome/expected results of the project.
- Update day to day findings and field progress report to management.
- Identify field problems and solve them instantly and provide guidance to the field staffs.
- Monitor field activities regularly and provide feedback to the concern.
- Monitor all of inputs to ensure proper utilization of project resources as well as organizational assets.
- Ensure all possible findings & data analysis through appropriate software program.
- Ensure that project staffs are up to date on key reporting.
- Assist and manage project staff to document and share project learning, innovations and results.
- Reporting and documentation
- Prepare success story/case studies and other reports as appropriate.
- Provide timely analysis /data/ information and report to management for decision.
- Assist PM in all quarterly and annual result report preparation by ensuring quality and consistent data.
- Prepare Monthly/weekly/event monitoring report directing corrective measures and recommendation.
- Maintain different information and database in due time.
- Work closely with other project colleagues to allow for smooth implementation of the M&E strategy and rapid uptake of learning and translation into dissemination materials.
- Maintain all kinds of progress related documents/report/case study, records etc. in a systematic way.
- Authority
- The M&E Officer is authorized to communicate with ESDO Senior Management and other project on a regular basis to produce best results. Communication with CARE M&E team as required.
- Reporting To Project Manager & Monitoring & Evaluation Coordinator of ESDO.

Educational Requirements
- Master’s degree Social science, statistics, development studies, economics or other analytical field is desired, other may be considered with requisite qualifications.
Experience Requirements
- 5 to 8 year(s)
Additional Requirements
- Age 30 to 45 years
- Both males and females are allowed to apply
- Minimum 5-8 years professional experience at a technical management position in M&E, Information Management and Learning
- Sound knowledge and experience of nutrition/health/food security programming and its challenges.
- Proven skills on M&E, research and knowledge management in an NGO, INGO or research institution in field and country level.
- Proven experience of different methodologies in project monitoring, learning, knowledge management.
- Experience in report writing, case study preparation, and analytical report both in Bangla and English.
- Good knowledge of software packages, especially statistical packages.
- Willing to drive Motor Cycle & should have a valid driving license.

Compensation & Other Benefits
- Festival Bonus: 2 (Yearly) equivalents to 50% of monthly gross salary.
